Deploying your BuckEye Cam™ system with stealth and common sense greatly reduces the chances of camera theft. Depending on the situation, anything from a security enclosure inside a fake rock to a flat black camera hanging on post may be appropriate.
The cameras are small enough to conceal with minimal effort. You can use a security cable, but it makes the set-up more visible and attaching the camera to the tree with deck screws can be just as secure.
The “black flash” used by BuckEye Cam™ does not give them away at night. As a last line of defense, we place labels on all the cameras we place in the field stating:”Theft of this camera is a felony” and “Images sent to landowner immediately.” We use a regular “P-Touch” label printer to make labels, which we have found to be highly durable.
